Raiders sign QB Brooks

Today the Oakland Raiders signed former New Orleans Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks for two years and $8 million. Brooks will compete with Marques Tuiasosopo and Andrew Walter for the starting job. Brooks was cut after the Saints signed Drew Brees from the San Diego Chargers.

I agree with HoopsAddict. A good QB he is not, but look at his competition. I think I can count the number of regular season NFL snaps that Tuiasosopo has taken on one hand. I'll take Aaron Brooks over the field, hands down.

The Raiders treatment of Kerry Collins is a minor aftershock tremor following past major Richter scale jolts including, but not limited too, Gruden's exit, Shanahan's departure, the moth-balling of Marcus Allen and Al "White Jump Suit" Davis' lawsuit against the NFL (actually he's back to wearing black I think.) I'll be surprised if Brooks is successful for more than one season in that environment. Despite obvious flaws (plus advancing age) I'd rather have Collins.

I love the Raiders, they are my favorite team, but all I can say about this move is "Bring back Jeff George".
