Rachel Alexander Nichols is an ESPN reporter who covers breaking news and events for SportsCenter and also contributes investigative pieces and human-interest features for SportsCenter and Outside the Lines. Nichols is a regular part of ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown shows, as well as a regular on ESPN's NBA coverage. She has previously worked for the Washington Post and Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.
Nichols is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland and Northwestern University.
She was named one of Esquire's "Women We Love" in 2005.
Several blogs and other website authors have made note that Nichols rarely blinks when appearing on screen during SportsCenter. As Frank Walsh of the Huntersville Herald observed, "She is pretty and a redhead, but that's not why to check her out. She never blinks."[citation needed] She also wears her hair so that the left side is draped over the front of her shoulder and the right side is draped to the back of her shoulder. "
Nichols is married to music executive Max Nichols, is the daughter-in-law of film director Mike Nichols, and the stepdaughter-in-law of television journalist Diane Sawyer.
