R.I.P. Sean Taylor

As I am sure you all of heard, Sean Taylor, the Washington Redskins Safety died today at around 5:30 ET this morning.  Taylor died from a gun shot wound, and it is said that he lost too much blood (the gun wound hit an artery).

Taylor was shot by an apparent "intruder" early Monday morning at around 3 A.M. in his home in Florida.  Taylor was with his girlfriend in his bedroom when he heard something outside his bedroom door, he ran to get a gun from under his bed, and before he had a chance to defend himself his bedroom door was opened and his was shot at twice, one bullet hit him in the groin, and the other missed ,and hit the wall.  Taylor's girlfriend was O.K., she hid under the covers, and called 911.  Taylor was bleeding prefusely, and was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league will honor Taylor's memory at all games this weekend.

Taylor's No. 21 will be painted in a grass parking area leading into Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va. In addition, No. 21 will also be painted in front of the Redskins Hall of Fame store.

This is a big loss, not only to the Redskins, but to the whole NFL community.  Here is what others, including Taylor's dad had to say about his tragic death:

"It is with deep regret that a young man had to come to his end so soon," father Pedro Taylor said in a statement on behalf of the family. "Many of his fans loved him because the way he played football. Many of his opponents feared him the way he approached the game. Others misunderstood him, many appreciated him and his family loved him."

"We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Sean's family, friends, teammates, and the Redskins' organization. This is a terrible tragedy involving the loss of a young man who leaves behind many people struggling to understand it," Goodell said. "Our office is staying in close contact with the Redskins to provide all appropriate support to the club and Sean's family. We also are working to determine the facts surrounding this tragic event. We will honor the memory of Sean Taylor at all games this weekend."

"This is the worst imaginable tragedy," Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Sean's family."

"It's hard to expect a man to grow up overnight," Portis said. "But ever since he had his child, it was like a new Sean, and everybody around here knew it. He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child."

My thoughts, and prayers are with Taylor's family, friends, teammates, and anyone else who was close to him.

Rest in peace Sean Taylor

A truly devastating loss for Taylor's family and friends. These types of tragedies really put football in prespective, but it's being an all too common phenemonenon.

Last season when Darrent Williams was shot in a Denver nightclub, Javon Walker had to hold him in his hands while he passed on. Hearing Walker's account of the story was eerie. I can only imagine what Taylor's wife and kids must be feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones.

RIP Sean Taylor

You never think stuff like this is going to happen to a star like him, until it happens. Truly a tragic incident. I sure hope the guy who killed him is caught, and sentenced to life in jail.

Rest in peace Sean, and my blessings to his daughter and fiancee. My daughter is around the same age and I can't imagine the kind of hole that is leaving in her life. One love for real.

If memory serves me right, the house was broken into before, which could mean that the same person or persons did the shooting. I'm not a Miami-Florida fan and never will be after the brawl with Florida International last year but after hearing about this, I became more of a Sean Taylor fan. Now as far as sentencing this person or these persons to life, that's too damned easy. Even if they're convicted, they'll appeal until Jesus returns. No, I say horsewhip the SOB's first, then castrate them and then shoot them.

this is so stupid. what did he do to better our society? zero. he was a thug playing football and made million. what about those soldiers, scientists, polices, firefighters, teachers, business owners who give people jobs, etc. those are the people who deserve the up most respect.
