Quinn- Will He Tie Eli as being the biggest disappoint in NFL history? Who are other disappointments in sports?

by user Jamel

I was playing on youtube and saw this video- I liked it, thought is was funny, so I thought I would share it.

I also think Eli will be one of the biggest busts in NFL history.

"While it's true I have impressive arm strength, and that I'm willing to stand up in the pocket against the rush, the fact remains that my lack of downfield accuracy gets me in trouble on the deep throws and my field vision is suspect," Quinn told draft evaluators from the Raiders, Browns, and Cardinals."Combine that with the enormous starting bonus I'll receive and the tendency for teams to try and develop quarterbacks long after they should give up, and I really just have 'bust' written all over me."- taken from the Onion-

So I wanted to open this up a little. Who has been the biggest disappointment in sports history? Any sport, any team, any athlete, whatever- time to list our grievances-

PS- Fucktard/Mariotti is biggest douchebag for a sports columnist- most overpaid

Have fun with this! Who has just really pissed you off? Which ONE players has cost you all your money on a bet cause he let an easy ground ball go between his legs? Which ONE fan has interferred with an easy catch which started a domino chain of bad play after bad play causing your team to lose? Which ONE player gets paid more than you will in a life time only to play like shit? Which ONE animal has broke his leg in a race and lost you your home? Which one quarterback decided in the last minute "Fu*k it I'm going long" and got intercepted?

Complain my friends! Complain away! Let the rage engulf you and flow out of your fingertips onto your keyboard!

Oh, you mean "Fat Balloon"? Oddly enough, I think those two were traded for each other at some point in their careers...

My personal favorite disappointment is Carl Pavano with the Yankees. The combination of him getting hurt and ENJOYING IT is priceless. What a waste of 40 million.

Ryan Leaf must be considered the biggest bust, especially with that mega contract.

Oh yeah, Leaf is absolutely the worst bust ever. And to think that there was semi-serious talk before the draft of him going ahead of Manning, it's unbelievable what a catastrophe that guy was. I love the Rodney Harrison quote: "He's a nightmare you can't even imagine," spoken at training camp before Leaf's rookie year. What an epic bust.

Quinn won't be a bust. He's got great discipline and he's a calm and collective guy. Just watching him handle the draft situation sitting there while everyone passed on him and taking it lightly shows that he will be great. He also knows how to deal with losing and he's had a great mentor in Charlie Weis.

Yeah, Brett Favre knows how to lose. What is he like one behind John Elway for career wins as a starter? And look at the shitty teams he's been forced to play with the last two years. That could be the dumbest comment ever.

Are you kidding? As soon as he has any trouble, he breaks down. He had an atrocious performance against Michigan, a team who had 6 defensemen drafted this year, and it only got worse as he got more and more upset. It was pathetic. So no, I can't agree that he is calm or collected. And you must have been watching different draft coverage than I was, because Quinn looked upset to me during his plummet.

DrPatriot- agree with you on Quinn- the guy is a hack- if you think Grossman is all scatter brained and can't stay in the pocket wait until we see Quinn in action- I say he gets sacked in the first game- get's hurt- and never gets comfortable in the NFL- mark my words he is going to be the new Leaf!

Eli isn't a bust. I hate the Giants as much as everyone else and I'm telling you he's not a bust, at least right now he's not. He has a horrible coach that he's frightened of which causes him to play the way he does. If he handles the pressure well (awesome in the first half of the season, terrible in the second half) then he well be great. And Doug Flutie is the old school version of Jake Delhomme. He had one great game in a big game situation and his career is trying to hang on from that event. Difference is, Flutie had his in college and Delhomme had his in the Super Bowl. If anything, they're overrated.

What about the 2002 Men's Olympic basketball team?

or The White Sox in shorts

It was all the idea of Bill's wife, Mary Frances Veeck. On August 8, 1976, the White Sox took the field for a doubleheader against Kansas City wearing shorts.

Though he wasn't a bust as epic as Leaf, Heath Shuler was the bust that personally pissed me off the most.

Well, my 'Skins took him 3rd overall in the 1994 draft. He held out and finally signed a contract for over $19 million. Unfortunately, he never seemed to learn the offense. He was out of football by 1997. 1994 was a tough year to be a Redskins fan, what with Shuler at QB and Norv Turner as the head coach.

You really can't say anyone's a bust until they've stopped playing. As long as they are active, things can change. How about Brien Taylor? Chris Washburn? Matt Harrington?

Yeah but my article states what sporting event has disappointed you and when Barbaro broke his leg is made me extremely sad- can you imagine telling your pregnant wife we have to pack our stuff cause a stupid horse broke his leg? I was suppose to be a sure thing! Now we use his glue and built us a new home made with tree branches, mud, grass, and glue. Barbaro- if you can hear me- I am disappointed in you!

Being a late first round bust is not the same as being a bust and picking picked first overall. That is Eli Manning right there.

Pretty sure Andre Ware, David Klingler, Heath Shuler, Akili Smith, Tim Couch, Rick Mirer, and Kelly Stouffer were worse busts than Eli. Eli's kind of in the Jeff George mold of bust -- he's definitely good enough to start in the NFL, and the potential to be one of the top QBs in the league is always right there, but you just know that he'll never live up to it.
