Quick BCS Poll
Imagine this situation:
The BCS system still exists, but it's the "plus-one" system -- after all the BCS bowls, two teams are selected to play in a one-game, post-Bowl title bout. The #1 team in the nation is undisputed. Your job is to pick their opponent. The only rules: You have to select one of the other four BCS bowl winners, plus two wild-cards I threw in. Here are your choices:
A) One-Loss BCS Conference Champ
This team almost ran the table, save for a bad loss in the BCS bowl -- to the team that is our undisputed #1. That is, they went into the BCS undefeated, with wins over #9, #13, and #24. #9 was also beaten in their bowl game by our (D) choice today.
B) Two-Loss BCS Conference Team
This team stumbled early on the road against a then-top 5 team which finished #8, losing by a score of 7-3. They lost a few weeks later to our undisputed #1, but had wins against #15, #17, and #25, with #17 a 25+ point shellacking in a BCS Bowl.
C) Undefeated non-BCS Conference Champ
They ran the table, but like most non-BCS teams, they had a weak schedule, beating #11, #21, and what would have been #26. The win over #21 is interesting mostly because the team below lost to #21.
D) Two-Loss BCS Conference Champ
Wins over #9, #14, #15, and #17, with the win over #9 coming in the aforementioned bowl-game. They lost to #21 and to a 7-6 team whcih received no votes in the poll.
E) One-Loss BCS Conference Champ
The one loss was to #12, and on the road. Their best wins came against #10 and #18. Only one other opponent received poll votes -- that opponent would have been #29.
F): One-Loss BCS Conference Team
Like team (B), this team is here even though they did not win their conference. Unlike (A) and (D), they did not beat #9 -- in fact, that was their lone loss. Their notable wins: #15 and #24. They won their bowl game, but it was not a BCS bowl game.
The Question
Pick the team you send to the title game, and your reasons why. Also tell me who your next three choices are (or order all six if you'd like).
