Who do I start? Clinton Portis or Maurice Morris? Arizona DST (vs San Francisco) or Indianapolis DST (vs Atlanta) - TK Inbody
You pose two extremely difficult questions TK as both of these decisions are side by side in our Week 12 NFL Start 'Em Sit 'Em. Let's start with what we believe is the easier of the two: the Defenses.
Arizona is the play here. While you cannot go wrong either way, the Cardinals have much more of an opportunity to put up a terrific stat line against an offense that has lost it's way. With Dilfer at QB, no real threat on the outsides, and Gore struggling to get anything going, the Cardinals are a money play this week.
Portis and Morris is a bit more difficult, but the good news is that they are both solid plays. The Bucs and Rams are equals when you look at their run stopping abilities, but you have to go with Portis here as the Skins will not be eager to challenge the Bucs 3rd ranked passing defense. Portis will see more guaranteed opportunities than Morris and is the safer play of the two.
What is the word on Ricky Williams? Is he worth a play this season? - Jay, Dallas, TX
Jay, by 'play', we hope you mean a buried position on your bench and not anything near your starting lineup... Williams has been cleared to practice with the team and Coach Cameron has welcomed him back with open arms. This is really a gray area, but if you have a roster spot that you can burn he is definitely worth the chance. The Dolphins are out of this season and have the opportunity to showcase Williams to possible suitors in the off-season, so if he can get into football shape quickly, you could be looking at a guy who gets close to 20 carries per game down the stretch.
I can start two of three, DJ Hackett, Larry Fitzgerald, and Braylon Edwards. Who do I pick? - Jerry, Boise, ID
This is an interesting question as I actually have the same situation in one of my personal leagues, so I have thought this one through. Hackett and Edwards are the plays and here is why. Edwards faces a Houston club in a game that will be an absolute shootout, so he is a no-brainer. Hackett gets the nod over Fitz because the Rams and Seahawks will also play a game that should be high scoring. Hackett has become Hasselbeck's favorite target even with the return of Branch and the Seahawks are throwing the ball 62% of the time after their running game failed them. Fitz has been rock solid all season, but you just get the feeling that he is due for a let down. Play the odds!
