Pujols Declares He's All Natural

According to St. Louis Today, St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols has declared that he is clean as a whistle. He said: "You're not going to find anything out about me. They can test me every day if they want. I don't care."

Pujols is in the midst of a legendary year with 19 home runs and 48 RBIs, the most in the majors in both triple crown categories. Already on his resume this season is a major-league record for home runs hit in April (14), the fastest ever to hit his 19th home run (he did that in the team's 37th game), and, coming this week, cover shots on both Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News.

I believe Pujols and think there is no reason to doubt him. Since entering the majors, he has dominated. His work ethic is supposedly impeccable and his body hasn't appear to transform in a McGwire and Bonds-like way.

I am looking forward to watching Pujols enter into the parthenon of great baseball players and possibly eclipsing the legends of Ruth, Aaron, and Mays because of his ability, hard work, and genetics--not because of some needle.

ha- but in all seriousness I believe Pujols in clean. If there's anything to be suspecious about it's that he's really just 26 years old.

This is Barry Bond's legacy. Whenver a player is actually gifted they will have to defend against steroids accusations.

I have my suspicions. But I guess it won't matter soon. After all he is gonna be on the cover of SI.

At 21 years old the guy puts up a .329 avg with 37 homers and 130 RBIs...The guy would've had to been juicing since like age 15 to put up those kind of numbers in his first season. Not to mention if you look at some pictures from when he was in the minors, he hasn't changed all that much. He was beefy then too. I believe him.

Maybe he has been juicing since 15. That would explain his size in the minors.

Eclipsing Ruth, Aaron and Mays?? Haha, a bit early for this type of hyperbole. I'm amazed at the denial here. When was the last time a player from the DR didn't lie about his age? No way this guy is 26. And Barry Bonds' legacy...you're right, he's the only guy in MLB who juiced before '02....please. and oh yeah, he wasn't at all "gifted" like Pujols. what a joke, pujols is a defensive hack.

I wouldn't call Pujols a defensive hack, he's a good 1st baseman though nothing amazing. In regards to hitting though, he's a monster AND he can hit to all parts of the field. The only thing he doesn't do much is show a lot of speed on the bases, but he's a big boy so I guess I can give him a pass on that for now. In any case, that deficiency is what would keep me from calling him a complete player even though he is certainly the best hitter in the game right now.

Pujols is well above average as a defensive first baseman, the best hitter in the game, the best player in the game, and definitely older than he says. Yeah, why is it "Barry Bond's legacy" and not "the steroid era's legacy?" Bonds is not the only person alleged to have used steroids. Palmeiro was a certain Hall of Famer and he actually failed a drug test so why not "Palmeiro's legacy?"

I believe Pujols, it's not like he is noticiably bigger than 3 years ago. He has been consistant his whole career, and he might look a little older than 26, but I think he's good... If you want someone that doesn't look their age... I think LeBron is about 41. Look at the guys face. He looks, and acts, older than anyone on his team. Hell, he looks as old as my dad, and I'm 20. That guy is not 21 or 22 years old.

Fair enough. I will call it the steroid legacy of which Barry Bonds is the "spokesman." You are right that Bonds is not alone as he is joined by Caminiti, Canseco, McGwire, Sosa, Giambi, etc. However, when you cheat and break records you define the era, hence, the Bond's legacy.
