Preston Ward (Preston Meyer Ward) was born on July 24, 1927 in Columbia, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1948 for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1948, his rookie year, he hit .260 with 1 home run and 21 RBI. Ward played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Preston Ward's best season was 1958, when he hit for a .284 average.
