Possible Twist in Vick Case

So two of Ron Mexico’s amigos have apparently rolled. I remember when the first one rolled, the press said he had turned. Turning is different from rolling. Turning is when you switch sides, rolling is when you make a deal, proverbially rolling the pressure off of you onto someone else. There’s a difference, just ask anyone involved in organized crime.

Anyway, this rolling reminds me of someone: Frank Pentangeli. Some of you might be asking “who?” To refresh your memory, he was a caporegime of the Corleone family. He testified in front of the Senate, at first against Michael Corleone, but changed his testimony, helping clear Michael’s name. Yes, Frank is a fictitious character from The Godfather: Part II.

So why do Michael Vick’s buddies remind me of Frankie? Because you never know what’s going to happen when people take the stand. Vick’s associates have already agreed to enter guilty pleas. It seems as though they will testify against Vick, sealing the case, and turning #7 into prisoner #8493297. Or will they?

Now I’m not predicting anything. I’m not a legal expert, nor an expert in dog fighting. But I do know something about people, and people have a tendency to do crazy, fucked up shit (example: running a dog fighting ring). I do know that Barry Bonds has a pal in the clink who refuses to testify. I also know that Michael Vick is a rich man and would do anything to stay out of prison. So don’t be surprised if Vick’s two friends plead guilty, but also take most of the heat for the dog fighting ring.

Vick might not be able to avoid taking some heat for this. But I for one, will not be shocked in the least if he takes the minimal amount of heat, thanks to his two friends.

I can just imagine one of Vick's comrades testifying:

"It was the FBI. They kept saying Michael Vick did this. And Michael Vick did that. So I said, uh, sure. But it was all lies, all of it"

We'll see. I think the feds will let Vick plead, but I doubt they let him off completely. They have something around a 95% conviction rate, so I think they'd take their chances in court.

If you are the feds, why would you let him plead down? The whole point of plea bargaining from what I can gather is to give up evidence in order to fry a bigger fish. Who is biugger then Vick in this situation. He is the top dog, pardon the pun. Can someone explain to me why they would allow Vick to plead to lesser crimes or a reduced jail time if they are sure they have a conviction?

Although Vick might be the most famous member of this dog fighting organization, that doesn't necessarily mean he was the most important member. If the feds can get Vick to roll on someone who plays a larger role in this, or organized crime in general, Vick might be able to get a good deal.

From everything I have heard, aand gratned that isnt everything, he sounds like the big fish in this. He found, funded and wagered large sums of money in this opperation. If there is a bigger fish, then I agree, him rolling over makes sense. However, I dont see a larger fish. Everything seems to point to the fact that he is the whole show.
