Posada Hits Walk-Off Homerun in Crazy 14-13 Victory

11
Vote

With two outs in the 9th inning and his team down 13-12, Yankees catcher Jorge Posada hit a game-winning homer off Texas Rangers closer Akinori Otsuka.

It was a wild game at Yankee Stadium which saw Texas jump out to an early 9-0 lead. New York clawed all the way back to take an 11-10 lead in the 6th on a Miguel Cairo 2 RBI single. Yankee closer Mariano Rivera couldn't keep the game tied in the 9th after allowing an RBI double by Rod Barajas. Otsuka couldn't escape the run barrage either, and blew his 1st save of the season.

Even without Giambi, Sheff, and Matsui...its great to see the ol Yankee gaurd of Posada and Jeter carry the team.

If it weren't for that type of game, the MLB Regular Season would become a complete bore until August.

Giambi has a neck strain? Who the hell gets neck strains?

Showalter made a huge mistake pulling Koronka. Yes, the Yankees were clawing their way back into the game, but the Rangers were still up by five runs, and Koronka had thrown only 80 pitches. He went to the Rangers' weak bullpen way too early and paid for it.

I wonder if this it the type of game that might put the Rangers on the skids. It's about time for Showalter to find yet another team to manage again.

Awrigh01, perhaps "neck strain" is a politically correct way of saying "cricked neck." (i.e. when you sleep funny, and it hurts to centralise your head on your body - you need to keep it leaning to one side). Now that HURTS. But fortunately, only for a day or two.

Ben, the Rangers have been on the skids. But, they're still at the top of their division. The Astros have been pounded two games in a row by double digits by the Giants, but I wouldn't count them out. They always struggle against NL West teams, but they'll get it back. In a 162 game season, no one game puts a team on the skids. That's ridiculous. The Rangers are doing better than anyone expected them to at any point during the year. They'll be better when they get Kinsler and Eaton back, and when Teixeira finds his stride as it always takes him to do. This game does not put them on the skids.

I agree that they are not on the skids and, given how weak the AL West looks, have a decent chance at winning their division.
