Poor Michael Finley gets the proverbial double whammy

We may have just witnessed the best playoff series in NBA history that wasn't a conference final or for the championship. It was one of those series that it was a shame that there had to be a loser. But in the end, the Mavericks finally got over that hump in the most defining moment in the history of their franchise. One can feel for the Spurs for losing but then has to remember the following:
Tony Parker has 2 NBA rings and Eva Longoria. Manu Ginoboli has 2 rings and an Olympic Gold Medal. Tim Duncan has 3 NBA rings, 2 MVP awards, 3 NBA FINALS MVP AWARDS and is a lock for the Hall of Fame. Robert Horry has 6 {count em} SIX!! rings with three different teams.{Lakers, Rockets, Spurs}
They'll be contenders again next year and for years to come. They'll come back strong.
One can feel sorry for Nick Van Exel who came on the Spurs for the sole purpose of a ring.
However, you cannot help but feel for Michael Finley. Michael Finley made the tough decision on jumping from the Mavericks to their arch-nemesis in the Spurs. Understandably, the Mavericks haven't been able to get past the Spurs and Finley jumped at the chance to be on a franchise with proven success.
Unfortunately, he was on the wrong side of the draw again. The Mavs still have to get past Phoenix and either Miami or Detroit to get to the big prize. However, it's quite apparent that it's their time to shine. Finley will have to bide his time for his eventual moment in the sun. However, he's one of the model franchises in sports, so it shouldn't be too long.
Follow the pattern: Spurs=2003-Champions, 2004-Eliminated by Lakers in 6 2005-Champions 2006- Eliminated by Mavericks in 7.
2007??????
Don't worry, Michael Finley, you'll get yours.
