The other options would probably be Johan Santana and Chien Ming Wang. Any others? I'd also appreciate it if each one of you who vote could tell me who you voted for.

Yes, I forgot about Kelvim Escobar. JJ Putz? Ehh. Maybe. I wouldn't though, mainly because there's too much competition for starting pitchers, and I think THEY deserve more credit than closers who pitch only one inning.

Kelvim Escobar is folding down the stretch like a cheap tent. Given the quality of starters this year, how can you even think about awarding it to a reliever, especially one who's team is going nowhere fast?

In 4 out of times where Kelvim Escobar has pitched 4 or more innings, Escobar, has allowed 5 or more runs. On August 16th, he had a 2.68 ERA. Now his ERA jumped to 3.46. Also, we've forgot about John Lackey, and usually, when there are more than 2 pitchers who are pretty good candidates for the C.Y. award, if there are two on the same team, they eliminate each other.

I think Wang has to be on the list. I am a Yankee hater but he is going to get 20 wins, and 20 wins is 20 wins. He won't be the Cy Young, but he will be in the top 3. If Bedard didn't get injured it would have been his.

Wang doesn't strike out people (94 strikeouts) and is getting run support of 6.90, even higher than Beckett's 6.73 and Sabathia's 5.63. Let's face it - sinkerball pitchers just don't win the Cy Young because they don't post sexy strikeout numbers. That's why Carmona won't win either. Given Sabathia's relative lack of run support compared to the other two candidates, I think his win total is much more impressive. His overall numbers are extremely comparable to Beckett's, whose only considerable advantage is those 2 extra wins on a team that's on ESPN twice a week. Beckett wins because he gets the publicity, but it should be Sabathia

Your right sinkerball pitchers never win the Cy Young

Okay, Webb won the Cy. But look at his K/9 - 6.81. He also had a K/BB of 3.56. He brings more to the table than just being a sinkerballer.
