Completely agree. They won 9 of 10 titles in the 60's, so that was a huge omission.

league was not as competitive in the 60's in my opinion but true it still was one of the best dynasties but the 90's bulls are still the best in my opinion (72-10) in 96

The Mavericks won 67 games two years ago, and got elimated by a team that was battling for .500. The winning percentage in the regular season means nothing; all that matters is whether what the outcome is in the NBA Finals. Did the Bulls win the NBA Finals in '96? Yes, they did. That just proves that they were the dominant force in the '90s. Winning 6 championships in that era with Patrick Ewing's Knicks, Charles Barkley's Suns, Stockton and Malone's Jazz, Drexler's Blazers, Hakeem's Rockets, and the early '90's Pistons led by Rodman and Isiah. The Bulls were far more superior than any of those teams, which is why I think they're the best NBA dynasty of all time, and you could make an argument about whether they're the best sports dynasty of all time.

And about the 50's and 60's Celtics, they're the reason why Chamberlain has only won an NBA Championship twice (1967, and 1972). Gotta think about that. The Celtics seemed like they had no competition, but take a look at the 60's Lakers. Elgin Baylor and Jerry West were on the Lakers at the time, and only managed to win one championship. They might have had no competition in most of the NBA, but they sure had competition when it came to the playoffs. Being able to win 9/10 championships in one decade with no Chamberlain, West, and Baylor on the opposing team is really something.

Okay, I've looked at this again. This is slightly crazy.

How are the Pistons a dynasty by winning 2 in a row? If that's the case then the 94-95 Rockets should be in there as well since it was when MJ was failing at baseball.

60's Celtics. 11 title in 13 years with 8 straight, one of the best dynasties EVER. Just look at those numbers and compare them to anything the Yankees or Canadiens have done.

why are u comparing basketball to baseball? and the BEST dynasty is the BULLS dynasty i dont give a shit what u say they had a 67-15 team in 91-92, 72-10 95-96 and then 69-13 none of u can name anthing better than that im sorry so stfu and the rockets may not have won those years had mikey not been playing baseball (dunno what he was thinkin baseball is such a boring sport) so therefore the bad boys were a better dynasty than the rockets

In sports, the term dynasty is often used to refer to a team that dominates their sport for a period of time.

IMO, there are 4 franchises who had a dynasty in the NBA: the Lakers (50's, 80's, 2000's), the Celtics (50's, 60's, 80's), the Bulls (90's), and possibly the Spurs (2000's); some people don't consider them a dynasty because they have yet to win consecutive championships.

However, can you say that a team dominates in a sport without winning a championship? That's up to you to decide. The '80s Pistons (the bad boys) were a pretty good team in the late '80s-mid 90's. They won three consecutive conference titles (1988-1990) and back to back title in 89 and 90. However, I wouldn't say that they ran that long enough to become a dynasty. It was just bad luck for Detroit IMO. They dominated right after the Celtics, and right before the Bulls started getting those 6 championships together.

The Pistons and Rockets had very good teams, but I wouldn't consider them a dynasty, only because I believe that winning 2 consecutive championships is not enough to be called one.

It's a matter of opinion though, I guess...

if you will not call the pistons or rockets a dynasty u cannot call the spurs a dynasty because they didnt win back to back and the pistons didnt start after the celtics they started their dynasty after the lakers

you realize, that's like calling the Denver Broncos a dynasty right? definitely not the Pistons or Rockets...2 championships isn't a dynasty, there just isn't another way to put it

Agreed. 2 championships in a row doesn't necessarily mean you're a dynasty compared to a franchise that has won 4 championships in a decade.

I don't believe that the Pistons nor the Rockets are dynasties

only making a two peat.Sorry the Spurs are not a dynasty either thought they won 4 titles in 9 season they have still yet to repeat. The Celitcs repeated 8 times,The Bulls repeated 3 times twice and the Lakers repeated 3 times I see those teams as legitmate dynasties. If the Spurs can do a three peat I will see

them as a dynasty then but for now no.
