From PittPSR:
Pro Bowl free safety Troy Polamalu has one year left on his contract with the Steelers. The 2003 first-round draft choice signed a 5 year deal with the Steelers when he was drafted. He is expected to sign an extension by the start to Training Camp on Monday. he is scheduled to earn a salary of $1,088,000 this season, which could be one-tenth of the signing bonus he will earn with a new deal.
Polamalu is a versatile player. He is quick, agile, has great hands, and hits hard. This gives defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau a very lethal weapon. Polamalu can be one place at one second and at a completely opposite place a second later.
Re-signing Polamalu would be a big help to the Steelers organization. Especially as they enter this transition period with new head coach Mike Tomlin. Also with the release of captain and linebacker Joey Porter, and with six-time Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca publicly ripping the team for not negotiation a contract extension.
Rumors had it that Polamalu might play his last season with the Steelers then move try and get signed by a west coast team so he could be closer to his family. He always denied that, saying he was happy playing with the Steelers and noting he made year -round home in Pittsburgh with his wife Theodora.
