Signing Zito could eventually land the Angels that power hitter

Signing Barry Zito is vital to the Halos' future. This year. Getting him would make the Angels a legitamite World Series contender. Here are three good reasons why Bill Stonehman should sign him.

1. Its a Homecoming of sorts. Zito is a SoCal guy growing up in San Diego and attending the University of Southern California. His parents live in nearby Glendale, California. Sending Zito back to his roots could make for happy times for him and his family. Remember a happy player will often produce.

2. Seven quality pitchers Signing him would really give LA an excess of pitchers. If they did indeed sign Zito, than it would be likely for Joe Saunders to be demoted to AAA Salt Lake. With Saunders pitching in the minors, there still would remain six quality pitchers. They have already said that Kelvim Escobar will not pitch in the bullpen. He signed an extension last summer. They will obviously need to trade one of them in order to acquire a bat. Signing Zito might force Stonehman to trade away one of their young pitchers. Personally, I'd like to see one of them in a deal to Atlanta for Adam LaRoche.

3. The A's and Rangers won't have him. Yup. You don't want to have to hit against Zito. What is better than taking away Zito from your heated rivals?

Hey Beastie, I think your first line needs to be in your dumb quotes post. Vital?? No. Is he the difference between them competing and not? No. Would he make them better? Sure. He's hardly VITAL to the California Orange County Angels of Los Angeles' Northern Suburban Regions.

As four your points: 1. Who cares? Do you think he did less well in Oakland just because the trip home for Thanksgiving was longer? Really?

2. Um, this point kind of works against you, but it would free up the chance to trade someone.

3. Ok that's mildly reasonable, but the A's are not going to sign him, and Boras is probably just using Texas as a tool against the Mets.
