Player Rating Stars

Perhaps it's too technical (and maybe even too late) but I really like five star rating systems that include half stars. I've seen it used for sites like blockbuster online and flixster (or however it's spelled). Only having 1-5 is pretty limited when you're talking about ratings for all the players in all the sports in all the world. It would be easier to make comparisons and to get more accurate results. Is this possible?
