Pinky Whitney (Arthur Carter Whitney) was born on January 2, 1905 in San Antonio, Texas. He made his Major League debut on April 11, 1928 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1928, his rookie year, he hit .301 with 10 home runs and 103 RBI. Whitney played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Braves over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that Pinky Whitney's best season was 1929, when he hit for a .327 average and knocked in 115 runs.
