Pinky May (Merrill Glend May) was born on January 18, 1911 in Laconia, Indiana. He made his Major League debut on April 21, 1939 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1939, his rookie year, he hit .287 with 2 home runs and 62 RBI. May played for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire 5 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Pinky May's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1940, when he hit for a .293 average. However, others believe that it was 1939, when he hit for a .287 average and knocked in 62 runs.
