Born on December 5, 1872 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Pink Hawley (Emerson Pink Hawley) played for the St. Louis Perfectos, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, New York Giants and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 10 year career. Hawley broke into the bigs on August 13, 1892 with the St. Louis Perfectos, and put up a 3.19 ERA in 166.1 innings pitched in 1892, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Pink Hawley's best season was 1895, when he posted a 3.18 ERA, won 31 games and struck out 142 batters.
