On Friday, Mary Pierce withdrew from the French Open due to a right foot injury that has sidelined her since February. "I don't feel 100 percent ready to be competitive at this tournament. I don't know when I will compete again. I haven't set a date yet," Pierce said. Pierce also said the injury started last year during the Open Gaz de France.
Pierce ranks No. 6 in the WTA rankings. She won the 2000 French Open for her second Grand Slam title and lost to Justine Henin-Hardenne in last year's final at Roland Garros. Pierce also reached the U.S. Open final in 2005.
Pierce said she hopes to play at Wimbledon, which begins June 26.
