Acquired
Traded from Montreal to Hamilton on August 28, 2006 in exchange for Adriano Belli.
Drafted by the Montreal Alouettes 2nd round, 2005 CFL Canadian Draft(16th Overall)
2006:
Played five games with Hamilton after he was acquired from the Montreal Alouettes along with Clinton Wayne in exchange for Adriano Belli on August 29th…finished tied for fifth on the Tiger-Cats with eight special teams tackles…also made one defensive tackle…in his Tiger-Cats debut, a 40-6 loss to Toronto on Labour Day Monday Gauthier made a season high two special teams tackles…also made two special teams tackles on September 16th vs. Edmonton and September 30th vs. the B.C. Lions…missed the final game of the regular season, a 23-17 loss at B.C. on October 21st due to injury…was inactive for Montreal’s first nine games of the regular season, spending the first on the reserve list and the next eight on the developmental roster.
Gauthier was used primarily on special teams.
College
Gauthier played three seasons with the Université Laval Rouge et Or, where he won the Vanier Cup in both 2003 and 2004... He had 34 career tackles, including two for losses of nine yards and one sack... He had three interceptions for 27 yards.
Personal
Phillip studied business administration... He played his College Prep (College of General and Vocational Education) football at Collège André-Grasset.
