Phil Masi (Philip Samuel Masi) was born on January 6, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 23, 1939 for the Boston Braves. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .196 with 1 home run and 14 RBI. Masi played for the Boston Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 14 year career.

Most people believe that Phil Masi's best season was 1947, when he hit for a .304 average and knocked in 50 runs.
