Born on October 25, 1913 in Penetanguishene, Ontario (Canada), Phil Marchildon (Philip Joseph Marchildon) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 9 year career. Marchildon broke into the bigs on September 22, 1940 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.57 ERA in 204.1 innings pitched in 1941, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Phil Marchildon's best season was 1947, when he posted a 3.22 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 128 batters.
