Born on August 27, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois, Phil Collins (Philip Eugene Collins) played for the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 8 year career. Collins broke into the bigs on October 7, 1923 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 5.75 ERA in 153.1 innings pitched in 1929, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Phil Collins's best season was 1930, when he posted a 4.78 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 87 batters.
