Two trades happened today, including one called by one of our very own here at the 'Chair! Let's take a look.
===Petit for Julio=== In a trade which Bobman024 predicted in this article, the D'Backs sent reliever Jorge Julio and cash to the Marlins for starter/reliever Yusmeiro Petit. Julio was expendable and expensive in the desert, and Petit wasn't quite good or consistent enough to crack the young starting rotation in South Florida. This trade should benefit both sides fairly well. Petit could have some fantasy value late in the season or if any of the current starters get injured or start to stink up the joint. Julio, who saved games for Baltimore a few years back, could be thrown into the closer's mix for the Marlins.
===Clark for Dessens=== The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder Brady Clark from the Milwaukee Brewers for ex-flash-in-the-pan and borderline reliever Elmer Dessens. Clark will fill in for the injured Jason Repko, and his flexibility will give the Dodgers quite a few options -- he plays all three outfield positions. Dessens shouldn't be on anyone's radar, whether real or fantasy. He was just about to lose his spot in the bullpen to Rudy Seanez, a name which still strikes fear in the hearts of Red Sox fans everywhere after last year, which should give you some indication as to his value. Clark could have some value for a while as a backup outfielder on your fantasy team, as there's always the possibility that he could go on a tear. Playing most of his games in Chavez Ravine won't help, though.
