Pete Reiser (Harold Patrick Reiser) was born on March 17, 1919 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on July 23, 1940 for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .293 with 3 home runs and 20 RBI. Reiser played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 10 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Pete Reiser's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1941, when he hit for a .343 average and knocked in 76 runs. However, others believe that it was 1946, when he stole 34 bases, hit for a .277 average and knocked in 73 runs.
