Born on July 2, 1930 in Evanston, Illinois, Pete Burnside (Peter Willits Burnside) played for the New York Giants, San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, Washington Senators and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 8 year career. Burnside broke into the bigs on September 20, 1955 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.77 ERA in 62 innings pitched in 1959, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Pete Burnside's best season was 1960, when he posted a 4.28 ERA and struck out 71 batters.
