Pete Beathard (Peter Frank Beathard) was born on March 7, 1942 in Hermosa Beach, California. After going to high school at El Segundo (CA), Beathard attended the University of Southern California. Beathard made his professional debut in the AFL in 1964 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in the AFL for 6 years, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers over the course of his 6 year AFL career.Beathard also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams over the course of his 4 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1969 was Pete Beathard's best year, as he threw for 2455 yards and tossed 10 TDs.
