Pete Athas (Peter Garrett Athas) was born on September 15, 1947 in Hackensack, New Jersey. After going to high school at Edison (Miami, FL), Athas attended Miami Dade College and the University of Tennessee. Athas made his professional debut in the NFL in 1971 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 6 year career.
Most people believe that 1973 was Pete Athas's best year, as he picked off 5 passes.
