Born on January 26, 1887 in Elba, Nebraska, Pete Alexander (Grover Cleveland Alexander) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 20 year career. Alexander broke into the bigs on April 15, 1911 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.57 ERA in 367 innings pitched in 1911, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Pete Alexander's best season was 1915, when he posted a 1.22 ERA, won 31 games and struck out 241 batters.
