Pescara is the longest track to have ever hosted a round of the Formula One World Championship.

The track features two straights longer than four miles, a section through the Abruzzi mountains, and a shoreside blast. It also featured level crossings, stray animals, and crowds would stand on the very edge of the track. It was the stereotypical pre-war circuit, the Nurburgring that they gave up on.

The first race in 1924 was won by Enzo Ferrari in an Alfa Romeo.

It hosted the exoticly titled Pescara Grand Prix in 1957, a race won by Stirling Moss.

The track was more used to hosting the Coppa Acerbo, one of the great races from non-championship F1 history.

The race, and the track, faded in 1961, when even the Italians considered it too unsafe for racing.
