To relax before and after pitching, Pedro Martinez spends two hours gardening at his home in Connecticut, where he has eight acres of land. He finds it relaxing both for his mind and body and a good way to bring his life back into equilibrium after the aggression he feels on the pitching mound. Pedro has been known to talk to his flowers, which include tulips, yellow daffodils, purple petunias, and cotton-candy-colored hyacinths.
