Born on September 6, 1896 in Sac City, Iowa, Paul Zahniser (Paul Vernon Zahniser) played for the Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 5 year career. Zahniser broke into the bigs on May 18, 1923 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 3.86 ERA in 177 innings pitched in 1923, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Paul Zahniser's best season was 1923, when he posted a 3.86 ERA and struck out 52 batters.
