Born on October 8, 1946 in Evansville, Indiana, Paul Splittorff (Paul William Splittorff) played for the Kansas City Royals for his entire 15 year career. Splittorff broke into the bigs on September 23, 1970 with the Kansas City Royals, and put up a 2.68 ERA in 144.1 innings pitched in 1971, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Paul Splittorff's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1973, when he posted a 3.98 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 110 batters. However, others believe that it was 1972, when he posted a 3.12 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 140 batters.
