Born on December 14, 1923 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Paul LaPalme (Paul Edmore LaPalme) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 7 year career. LaPalme broke into the bigs on May 28, 1951 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 6.29 ERA in 54.1 innings pitched in 1951, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Paul LaPalme's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1953, when he posted a 4.59 ERA and struck out 86 batters. However, others believe that it was 1955, when he posted a 2.75 ERA.
