Paul Campbell (Paul McLaughlin Campbell) was born on September 1, 1917 in Paw Creek, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1941 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .278 with 3 home runs and 30 RBI. Campbell played for the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 4 year career.
Most people believe that Paul Campbell's best season was 1949, when he hit for a .278 average.
