BOSTON- If you are betting on the Patriots/Redskins game you may want to lower the point spread. Are the Patriots cooling off? No. Can the Washington Redskins have a chance to stop them? Anything's possible especially with Washington's great secondary but no. The reason is because if there is any coach in the league right now Bill Belichick has the utmost respect for it is the man across the sidelines Sunday, Joe Gibbs.
These aren't the same Redskins that brought Gibbs 3 titles in the 80s, they aren't even the top 3 teams in the NFC but they are a good team while I highly doubt an upset I also doubt seeing the suddenly fan favorite "Eff You Touchdown." When spygate first broke, Gibbs was one of the few coaches that had nothing but good things to say about Belichick and their legacy. Belichick admires Gibbs and knows all too well of Gibbs coaching ability from back when he worked for the New York Giants. When asked about his clash with Gibbs, Belicheck said, “He’s in the Hall of Fame. He’s a Hall of Fame coach, he’s already been recognized for his career to ’92, and now he’s tacked on more to that with a good team this year.”
Bill Parcells has said for the Redskins to win Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams will need to stop the deep threat. Safeties Sean Taylor and LaRon Landry would have their hands full stop the likes of Moss, Welker, Stallworth, Brady and Gaffney. With Maroney planning to see limited carries, I expect Brady to give the Redskins secondary their first real challenge. As for on the other side of the ball, QB Jason Campbell is looking like fresh meat to the Pats defense especially with their injured O line. As great as the Pats D teams have achieved mediocre success as of late so look for Portis-Betts to play a vital role.
At this point its hard to go against the Patriots, especially back at home. Brady will be Brady and that should be enough to get the win. I expect a slightly less dominant game from the Patriots setting up a huge undefeated game in the RCA Dome, which can settle for all whos the best team in the NFL. One thing about the Pats they don't often look ahead so right now it's about Jason Campbell and the Redskins. It should be a good game, be sure to check it out. The game is on October 28th at 4:15 on FOX.
