With all the off field drama circulating the New England Patriots this week, they played as though they had not heard a word. The San Diego Chargers, on the other hand, played like the team that had the off-field distractions all week.

The Patriots handed the Chargers a 38-14 loss on Sunday night at the Razor. The Patriot offense sparkled for the second game in a row. While the defense had another great game.

The revamped New England offense clicked again, as they took there opening drive down the field through the air and capped it off with Brady finding Ben Watson in the back corner of the end zone. On their net possession Randy Moss caught a pass from Tom Brady and took it in for the touchdown.

In the second quarter, Stephen Gostkowski booted a field goal to give the Pats a 17-0 lead. Then the newest linebacker on the team, Adalius Thomas picked off Phillip Rivers and scrambled 65 yards for a touchdown. The half ended with the Patriots ahead 24-0.

The Chargers' offense finally got on the board in the third quarter when Lorenzo Neal caught a short pass from Phillip Rivers to give the Chargers their first score of the night. The Patriots countered when Randy Moss caught his second touchdown with about four minutes to go in the quarter.

In the fourth, Antonio Gates finally got loose and caught a 12-yard pass to close the gap to just 17. Sammy Morris finished off the scoring for the night when the Patriot running back dove into the end zone from three yards out.

Tom Brady was 25 for 31 for 279 yards while throwing for 3 touchdowns and having 1 pass picked off. Laurence Maroney out rushed LaDainian Tomlinson by carrying the ball 15 times for 77 yards, Sammy Morris carried it 10 times and gained 51 yards. Randy Moss put together another nice game, grabbing 8 passes for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wes Welker also had another nice game catching 8 passes for 91 yards. Ben Watson, who many think will have a break out year in the receiving game, caught 5 passes for 49 yards and a nice touchdown.

The Chargers' offense had a rough day. Phillip Rivers went 19 for 30 for 179 yards 2 touchdown, 2 interceptions and was sacked 3 times, while putting the ball on the ground twice losing one fumble. LaDainian Tomlinson rushed 18 times and was only able to gain 43 yards. Antonio Gates lead the team in receiving with 7 catches for 77 yards and the 1 touchdown.

The Patriots will host the Buffalo Bills next week, while the Chargers travel to Green Bay.
