In a game behind closed doors, New England continued their impressive run by dominating the bye week, led by superstar oxygen, 70-7. Tom Brady was his usual great game, throwing 24-25 for 397 yards and 5 touchdowns. Oxygen and the other players had no answer for this all out assault. It started after the bye week had lost the opening kickoff, and New England recovered it at the 30 yard line. Brady then fired it to Randy Moss, uncovered, for an early 7-0 lead. It was lost at halftime, when Brady threw blindfolded, found Wes Welker all alone in the end zone, it was 49-0 at halftime. Late in the 4th quarter, Belichick pulled Brady out, inserted Matt Cassel in. Cassel fumbled the ball, and oxygen picked it up and scored. Brady was immediately put back in, and led them to 3 more TD drives.
When Bill Belichick was asked about putting Brady back in, he stated "Hey, 3 more touchdowns and it's 49-28, I don't want that to happen". Bye week coach Dennis Green had this to say:
"The Pats, are who we thought they were!!!! That's why they took the damn field!!!"
New England will face Buffalo next week, while the bye week will have a bye week.
Stat of the game:
Brady, 24-25, 397 yds, 5 TDs, 7 STD's, 4 chicks between plays
