Patriots Could Learn Something About Class

8
Vote

by user Leslie Monteiro

The Jets fans and the New York media have been outspoken about how the Patriots are a team is classless. The thought was that those people were crying sour grapes.

When a class act like Ladanian Tomlinson goes out and rips the Patriots after the game on Sunday afternoon, this is something that can not be ignored. Tomlinson has been saying what other people have felt about the Patriots. The Patriots have rubbed many people the wrong way with the way they conduct their business since winning championships.

It starts with Robert Kraft, who owns the New England Patriots. This guy just conducts himself like a jerk. He likes to brag a lot via the talking. The way he treated Bill Parcells was a joke when Parcells was their head coach. He had no use for him. All Parcells did was win and field a great year yet Kraft wanted a general manager in Rosey Grier, who did nothing for that team. Kraft never seemed to appreciate him. He always would criticize him in the papers which is why Parcells got fed up and left. Kraft does not seem popular with his fellow owners. He seems to want to keep all the revenue sharing to himself rather than share the wealth to small-market owners. He is not shy to announce his team’s accomplishments.

Another reason to hate the Patriots is Tom Brady. No question Brady is the best quarterback in football right and when all is said and done, Brady is probably going to be the best quarterback that football fans ever watched. With that said, Brady is a smug little punk who could use some humility. Brady comes off as a guy who thinks he is better than ours just by the way he talks. There were two incidents with Brady to suggest that he is full of himself. First one began with him ripping Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer. He accused Schottenheimer of saying that his team is not that good when in reality, Schottenheimer praised the Patriots for finding a way to get it done without their key players. He mentioned how hard it was so for Brady to go act like a child was uncalled for. Also, he whined about his team getting lack of respect. What is he talking about? ESPN and the national media has been raving about the Patriots in January for the last few years. This act sure seems like him being a diva, which he is.

The Patriots are a dirty team. They always find a way to injure other players and they always like to chop block the other players when they defend. It is amazing how they clutch and grab and just get away from it. Better yet, how is it they get so many calls by the refs. It is amazing and it showed again in the divisonal playoff game against the Chargers.

The guy behind this is their head coach, Bill Belichick. Belichick is the best coach in football and probably the best ever in the sport. Parcells should thank Belichick for helping him win two Super Bowl rings thanks to Belichick's work on defense. Belichick is a whiz when it comes to defense. Sadly, Belichick is a lowlife.

The Patriots head coach has zero social skills. His behavior towards his protege, Eric Mangini was embarassing. He has been bitter towards Mangini because his former defensive coordinator took the Jets head coaching job even though he was told that he was better off not taking it. He pulled an ingenious stunt by hugging Mangini after he was done attacking a cameraman in a playoff game. It was a good bet that he would not have done that so had the Jets won that game and he knows it.

He also has ability to tick people off whether it's running up the score or using Vinny Testaverde to go throw the ball when the game is over. He ran up the score on the Vikings this year on Monday Night Football because he did not like how Brad Childress mocked him for the injured list. Childress added many, many names to the list to fool Belichick. How about using Vinny to run up the score on the Titans in the final game of the season or against the Jets in the preseason? How about whining about the grass at his stadium? This is the same idiot who once yelled at a Steelers trainer for having the gall to check on his player.

This latest incident with the Patriots is an example of what they are about. Apparently, Karl Hobbs was mouthing off at Tomlinson when Tomlinson congraulated him. The NFL's 2006 MVP clearly took offense to it as he started screaming at several Patriots players. There is no need to be sore winners after a great game and a great win. As LT said, act like you have been there before.

There is really nothing to like about them. They are boring to watch. Patriots fans are smug and arrogant which is typical of a Boston fanbase. They make Cowboys fans from the past look intelligent in comparasion.

If there is God, here's hoping good overcome evil on Sunday at the RCA Dome. Peyton and Tony Dungy are good people that are more deserving of a championship than Belichick and Brady.

This might be the worst article I have ever read on this site. Your hatred for the Patriots shows through in your lack of knowledge of the situations and misinterpretation of the facts. I don't want to get into all the flaws because its not worth my time, but let me just say this, you've talked before abotu how classy the Yankees are, yet you rip Kraft and call him a jerk for wanting the same thing as Steinbrennar. "Kraft does not seem popular with his fellow owners. He seems to want to keep all the revenue sharing to himself rather than share the wealth to small-market owners. He is not shy to announce his team’s accomplishments." How do you justify that?

"Belichick is the best coach in football and probably the best ever in the sport"

Belichick isn't the best football coach... There is that guy they named the Super bowl trophy after... Bill Walsh CHANGED the way the game is played, Buddy ryan has given the game more than Belichick can dream of, and there are several others worth mentioning (Take a gander at the Hall of Fame, for instance).

Belichick got lucky last week. He was outcoached for MUCh of the game. If not for dropped passes and untimely turnovers... The 2 point conversion that I've heard called "Genius" too many times already was crafty at best; Belichick is not reinventing the forward pass out there...

gadget plays don't mean you're a great coach, it means you're an occasional gambler (or at least not a total wuss) people don't understand how much Buddy Ryan really did change the way the game was played. Before Buddy, great defenses relied on great players, after Buddy great defenses relied on players playing.

Sure did, I moved to AZ in 2001, but I was never really an Eagles fan... I was a realist. I thoroughly enjoyed Randall and loved Seth Joyner's game. Buddy's boys were fun, but those teams had NO rushing game... I almost cried when I heard Andre Waters killed himself last month.

Oh, yeah, Buddy Ryan was a model citizen and always exuded class, as opposed to Belichick. Yeah, I'm sure Ditka, Jimmy Johnson and Kevin Gilbride would all agree.

I don't care about class, I said he was more important to the game and a better coach. Buddy ryan saved Chris Carter's career (and probably life) by sitting him down, telling him to stop the coke and cutting him, to get his life straightened out. Yet people thought Buddy was dumb when he said "All he does is cacth TDs"

Seth Joyner told me about 2 years ago he'd still give his life for Buddy. Scuffles are one thing, 'specially for a fiesty guy like Buddy but ask the players what Buddy did for the game. Ask Singletary. Ask Ray Lewis (who plays for his son).

As long as Belichick can apply scissors to a shirt, I will NEVER link him with the word 'Class"

I'm not even a fan but I'd say that Belichik is a better head coach than Buddy was. As for defensive minds, sure buddy was a pioneer. But one could argue that Belichik is almost equally as much, especially if he shuts down the Colts again this wknd if not add a few more Super Bowls to his resume. And you cannot even doubt that he's already a lock for the hall of fame.

I'm only voting on this so that other people will comment and it will turn into a hilarious fight. I wouldn't describe the pats as evil and the vinny testicles thing was to get him a TD not run up the score. Most coaches don't run up the score because its risky for the good players. Vinny score...he's the friggin 3rd string QB...I don't think he was trying to get back at brad childress for making fun of him (i thought childress was funny), and I'd hope he'd just take the joke for what its worth and that tactic is very similar to belichick himself, so he should get used to it.

The patriots aren't the most classy organization, but certainly not the least. As far as dirty play, you find me a dynasty team that doesn't...The late 90's broncos teams do it (still do), the 80s/90s 49ers' teams did it, the Cowboys did it a hell of a lot...Its football, just like holding on every play. Is it wrong, yes, does everyone do it, pretty much...

This article is 100% correct...Cowboys fans are really dumb...

Kraft is the owner of the team, and he diddn't like Parcels for whatever reasons, and it was within his right to fire them. Last time I checked, Parcels diddn't get Kraft a Superbowl.

The score was not run up on Monday night. Belichik put enough points on the board to give them a comfortable lead over a bad vikings teams. Where/When did Brady say that the Chargers were not that good. As a Team leader, what he said is he thought they could beat them, which is what he is supposed to say. Brady has some of the most class amongst players in the league now. I have lost all respect for LT because he is a whiner. He whined about losing, he whined about how the patriots clebrated when they wanted to prove they could still win, and had the horrific loss to Denver last year that they finally moved on from. He attacked their Coach when Belichik had said nothing to him

Read the David Halberstam(sp?) biography on Belichik and it will explain everything you want to know about him. They way they conduct business is to find the toughest, most ego free, and determined players to suit up. You just hate the pats for winning. Your only info comes from a slanted New York Media that would bash LT if he was on the Pats.

Get your names straight, it is Elis Hobbs, not Karl Hobbs. He was engaged by LT who mouthed off AT HIM, not the other way around. Hobbs is a second year player that knows that if he mouths off he would get slammed.

The difference between most successful teams, and teams like the Titans this year is how they play. They both try and play dirty at some points, its just the Patriots don't get caught doing so.

This is the worst thing I've read since Pnatt was around.

Also "Kraft does not seem popular with his fellow owners. He seems to want to keep all the revenue sharing to himself rather than share the wealth to small-market owners." is about as far from the truth as possible. If you go back to last years CBA agreement. Kraft LOST MONEY BY VOTING FOR IT BUT HE DID IT BECAUSE IT WAS FOR THE GOOD OF THE LEAGUE!!!!!!!!! Only the Bills Owner and the Redskins owner voted against it because the Bills owner though it did nothing, while the redskins owner wanted everything to change in his favor. Do a little research next time

They also have the Classiest player in years. Troy Brown. This guy plays for less than most starting rookies earn, he plays punt reuturn, Kick Return, he will step in as a DB when he is needed to, and he stripped the ball out of Jammers hands after he got picked instead of just crying about not catching the Ball. YOu have to agree with at least that, or you have no idea what you are talking about

How many starting rookies are in the NFL, and how many of them are receivers?! That's a very skewed stat. Yeah Brown is classy, I doubt you'll find anyone to argue, but what the Pats did to him (release him prior to a bonus, etc etc) is a pretty shady organizational move. Championships aside, the pats owe him

they released him so they could keep him. They couldn't afford to pay the bonus, his salary, and not take a huge cap hit. He was fine with the move, and still chose to come back to him. Teams have to do things like that in ordr to succeed. It isn't smart to take a big cap hit that isn't necessary

Where do you come off trashing Tom Brady? First of all, he didn't accuse Marty Schottenheimer of anything. All he said was that Marty should worry about his own team (which didn't even make the playoffs last year) rather than speculate about the Patriots injury problems, after Brady was drilled with questions on the "issue". He merely wanted to move on to talk about his own team. Oh yeah, and I forgot how horrible it was to say your team wasn't being respected. Brady really made a fool out of himself. Maybe he should take the example of a real class act, like, oh I dunno, maybe LT for example. Your favorite "class act" never plays the respect card and only worries about the game...

Oh, and you mentioned that Brady always acts like he's better than everyone else. I'm not sure where your getting this from, but you know what? He IS better than everyone else! He's the guy with three Super Bowl rings on his hand. Which other QB in the NFL can say that? Peyton Manning? No. Brady is the guy who makes all the throws when his team needs him and there isn't a quarterback out there that any head coach in the NFL would rather have under center in crunch time than Brady. He also gets all the ladies. His new girlfriend is rumored to be supermodel, Gisele Bundchen. Atta boy, Tom!

As a Cowboys fan and great respector of Bill Belicek, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots as a whole I say this article is crap. First of all I would like to start with your last sentence bashing Cowboys fans in an article that had nothing to do with the Cowboys in the first place. That just proves your lack of intelligence if that is the only thing you can think of. You just prove your as brainless as the idiot on the street who called me a fairweather fan for wearing my Cowboys jersey even though we haven't won a playoff game in 11 years!

Secondly, while LT has always been a class act in the past in this case he was just a sore loser. It's classless for the Patriots to mock Merriman's dance, but it's classy for Merriman to do the dance in the first place?

Belicek got outcoached most of the game? MartyBall decides to go for it on 4th and 11 instead of kicking a 48 yard field goal in a scoreless tie in the first half. Obviously, he has been playing a little too much Madden. Then in the second half he wastes a challenge on a play a blind man could have called just because he was sore about a fumble. A little immature for someone of his experience. Bet they would have liked to have that timeout at the end of the game. These are two of the worst coaching decisions I have ever seen, ranking up there with Marty Mornhinweg deferring after winning the toss to start overtime. Maybe being named Marty just makes you do stupid things. It is a joke that the Chargers are bringing this guy back.

Tom Brady. This is the only thing you got right saying that Brady is possibly the best quarterback ever. Your ripping of him is nothing but jealousy. He was an unheralded 6th round pick who worked hard to get where he is and with his resume he deserves whatever respect he gets.

How can you say that when you have no idea who I even am. Just because I am from Phoenix I can't like the Cowboys? When I was a kid there was no team in Phoenix and my dad was a Cowboys fan and they were the team that was generally on TV most often. When the Cardinals moved here in 1988 I wasn't going to change my allegiance to root for the joke of the league. I will be the first person to admit that there were a lot of fairweather Cowboys fans in the mid 1990's and I hated those people even more so probably than you because they made me look bad as a Cowboys fan. News flash, it is 2007 not 1995, the Cowboys haven't been good in over ten years. I am obviously not a fairweather fan. I drive from Phoenix to Oxnard, California every year to go to the Cowboys training camp. I don't think a fairweather fan would do that considering the team hasn't been very good recently. I hate the Eagles just as much as you hate the Cowboys, but I don't go around talking shit about their fans, although I should. If you want to talk about classless I don't think any Cowboys fan would ever boo a career ending injury as a stadium full of Eagles fans once did to Michael Irvin.
