Pat Studstill (Patrick Lewis Studstill) was born on June 4, 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After going to high school at Byrd (Shreveprt, LA), Studstill attended the University of Houston. Studstill made his professional debut in the NFL in 1961 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that 1966 was Pat Studstill's best year, as he hauled in 67 receptions, had 1266 receiving yards, caught 5 TD passes and had a 41.1 yard punt average.
