Born on September 25, 1902 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Pat Malone (Perce Leigh Malone) played for the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees over the course of his 10 year career. Malone broke into the bigs on April 12, 1928 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 2.84 ERA in 250.2 innings pitched in 1928, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Pat Malone's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1929, when he posted a 3.57 ERA, won 22 games and struck out 166 batters. However, others believe that it was 1928, when he posted a 2.84 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 155 batters.
