Parrott out of season opener

1991 World Snooker Champion John Parrott (England) was eliminated at the Third Qualifying Round of the 2006 Northern Ireland Trophy this morning.

The 41 year old was never in the game against Andrew Norman (England), and 5-1 was a fair reflection of the flow of the match.

Elsewhere in this morning's qualifying matches, Tony Drago (Malta) advanced to the tournament proper, and Gerard Greene (Northern Ireland) beat the fast-rising Judd Trump (England).

The pick of the afternoon matches sees Jimmy White (England) play Jimmy Michie (England). The veteran fan favourite will be desperate to get in to the tournament proper.
