Parcells' Lover

Is there any other explanation for the reason that the Dallas Cowboys continue to stick with Drew Bledsoe at quaterback? There has to be some logical, football related reason that he is still starting.

Or perhaps, Bill Parcells doesn't want to break the heart of his pet-project psuedo-creepy borderline-homoerotic quarterback.

Drew Bledsoe has a 63.6 passer rating. 5 TDs to 7 INTs. He's fumbled three times, losing one. He is the biggest veteran QB trainwreck this side of Brett Favre, maybe worse. He takes sacks that shouldn't happen, his players rarely look like they believe in him, and most of all ---- there IS a decent backup with unproven potential waiting in the wings.

Perhaps if the backup was still Mr. Ex-Baseball, then I could understand. But no, Dallas has Tony Romo, who played a wonderful preseason, signed a multimillion dollar contract extension and is clearly the quarter back of the future for the Cowboys.

So, if you have a quarter back of the future and your quarter back of the present is playing as well as a junior high girl, what is the hold up on the benching?

Oh, thats right, I forgot about the sleepovers.

Parcells has a lot on the line this year. T.O. has a life expectancy of 1-year on Dallas. Why roll the dice with a young QB? At least he knows what he is getting out of Bledsoe.

Bledsoe's passer rating is 27th out of 31 QBs who have played three or more games. He betters only Jake Plummer, Vince Young, Chris Simms, and Kerry Collins. I would agree if Bledsoe was playing well AT ALL, but how can Romo play worse? Just seems there is no downside here.

I've got a reason. Tony Romo is worse. As badly as Bledsoe played against Philly, Romo's not going to be any better. This goes back to the same problem I've been talking about since Troy Aikman was still in Dallas. The Cowboys didn't have an eye on the future, and they had nothing to replace Aikman with when he retired. They are still paying for their lack of foresight. Until they get serious about grooming a young franchise QB, they're going to keep floundering and wasting enormous amounts of talent.

How does anyone know if Romo is worse or not? He's never played a regular season game. Just because he wasn't a highly touted player out of college doesn't mean he can't succeed. What is the downside at giving him a shot? At least attempt a solution at the long-term QB situation... instead of letting an old mediocre QB on the downside of his career continue to flounder.
