[edit] History
The Papajohns.com Bowl, first known as the Birmingham Bowl, is played in Birmingham, Ala. each December. Birmingham previously hosted the Dixie Bowl from 1947 to 1948, the Hall of Fame Classic (now called the Outback Bowl and played in Tampa, Fla.) from 1977 to 1985, and the All-American Bowl from 1986 to 1990. The city also hosts the SEC Championship Game.
It is played at Legion Field, home of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers, and has a four-year agreement with Conference USA to match a representative of that conference with a member of the Big East Conference.
