PHILLIES WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16

by Trizz

The Philadelphia Phillies are NL East Champs!!!! By defeating the Washington Nationals 6-1 they clinched a playoff spot and before they could celebrate that the New York Mets fall to the Florida Marlins and that's all she wrote; the Phillies are in the postseason. Rollins completed his 20-20-20-20, and, in my opinion, should be bringing another MVP to Philadelphia. For those hoping for a one game playoff tune into San Diego who is currently trailing the Brewers and would tie the New York Mets for the wild card. So the Cubs, D-Backs, Phillies and Mets/Padres versus the Red Sox, Yankees, Indians, and Angels.....its playoffs baby. I live for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to the Phillies!! Finally!! After all of these years where the Phillies were so close to winning it, the Phils are finally going to the playoffs, winning the division for the first time in 14 years.

I care for the all NL teams, cuz they're all underdogs. Think about it. Rockies have made the playoffs how many times in franchise history? NONE. This could be the first time they EVER make the playoffs. Cubs? They're known for not winning the World series. Phillies? They were an underdog to begin with since almost everyone believed the Mets were gonna win the division. DBAX? Well, they've allowed more runs than they've scored. I'm sure no one picked them to make the playoffs, less win the division. Padres haven't won a World Series yet, but everyone thought they'd make the playoffs. So, I'd say it'll be pretty interesting to see who faces who and who makes it to the WS.

Oh, I checked on Baseball-reference. It was about Pennants and WSes not playoff appearances. Good catch, JuT. Top Play nominee.

Why does everybody keep saying nobody picked the D-Backs to be good this year? Four of the 18 ESPN MLB experts picked them to win the division (they happened to be four of my favorites, too), and a fifth picked them to win the WC. I would've picked them too, because the Dodgers were playing too many bad veterans over good young players. http://sport...7expertpicks

Cubs have their rotation set up perfectly, it will be Zambrano and Lilly going in games 1 and 2, and I hope that Rich Hill would be the game three starter. He has been solid down the stretch. Of course, do the Phils want to play the Pads or Rocks in the first round?

I think they'd want to face the Rockies since they have the sucky pitching. If they face the Padres, they're more likely to lose at least one-two games with Peavy and Young (even though Young hasn't been himself... or his old '07 self lately).

lol the Phils pitching doesn't set the world on fire either Romie. I mean come on, Adam Eaton still has a job in the starting rotation.

Throughout the season, if I had to hear one more Mets fan tell me how amazing their team was, I was going to go round the bend. The pity of it was that there was talent, but there were glaring errors, too. No Mets fan would face the problems of the team. Don't get me wrong. I love David Wright, Willie Randolph, Moises Alou and John Maine. But Reyes was an overgrown kid, coddled until he couldn't produce reliably anymore. And all the hype about Lastings Milledge. Is this about holding it together to keep the NL East, or about getting even? So messed up. Where was the heart of this team? They got soft sitting on top of the weak NL East, but fading when facing series against other true contender teams. Doing really poorly inter-league, wise. And, thugs like LoDuca and Marlon Anderson, who put themselves before the team, really turned me off. This was not a unified team, but a very expensive patch-up job of cast-offs, mercenaries and veterans. It took almost the whole season, but the wheels have finally come off. The Mets needed to take their own advice and Believe! I remember the great teams of 1986 and 2000. Those Mets deserved a chance at the big dance. This motley crew deserved their crash and burn finish. Clean the slate, Mets fan. Don't live in a world of hype. Baseball is the great leveler. The Phils may not go much further, but they earned every game. Jimmy Rollins was a genius back in January. Good things come to those who wait. And, unlike you, I'm not ashamed to identify myself as a fan of my team.
