Ox Emerson (George Conner Emerson) was born on December 18, 1907 in Douglass, Texas. After going to high school at Orange (TX), Emerson attended the University of Texas. Emerson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1931 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Detroit Lions, Portsmouth Spartans and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 8 year career.
