Otto Velez (Otoniel (Franceschi) Velez) was born on November 29, 1950 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He made his Major League debut on September 4, 1973 for the New York Yankees. In 1977, his rookie year, he hit .256 with 16 home runs and 62 RBI. Velez played for the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Otto Velez's best season was 1977, when he slugged 16 home runs and knocked in 62 runs.
