It started off with a tied series, and ended with the series score being 2-1 in the favor of the Senators.

Less than a minute into the game, Gary Roberts scored to put the Pens up 1-0 off the assists from Crosby and Armstrong. Late in the 1st period, Dean McAmmond scored to tie it off the assists from Preissing and Eaves. The second period went to the Senators, where 2 goals from Alfredsson and 1 from Comrie to put them up 4-1. There was a scary moment for Ottawa mid-way through the 2nd period. As Patrick Eaves skated around the post and was about to shoot a wrap-around he got layed out on the ice by a vicious shoulder check to the head by Colby Armstrong, which in turn started a fight that include Pens forward Maxime Talbot. After a short break he was escorted off in a stretcher. He did not need to attend the hospital, but also did not return to the game. The third period was all about protecting the lead for Ottawa, and all about ending it for Pittsburgh. Sidney Crosby tried to start something with a goal to make it 4-2 with 5:20 left, but it wasn't enough to stop the Senators. Ray Emery didn't let any more past, and the Sens went on to end the game with a win by the scored of 4 to 2. The goaltenders both had good games with Emery saving 17-19 and Fleury saved 21-25.
