Oscar Knop (Robert Oscar Knop) was born on September 5, 1896 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Albert G. Lane Tech (Chicago, IL), Knop attended the University of Illinois. Knop made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Chicago Tigers. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Hammond Pros and Chicago Tigers over the course of his 2 year APFA career.Knop also played in the NFL for 6 years, playing for the Chicago Bears and Hammond Pros over the course of his 6 year NFL career.
